The basis of my early paintings are the landscapes of my youth spent growing up in King Township. Over time giant poppies infiltrated these peaceful acrylic landscapes. They rebelled against the expected, just as my switch from a career in film to art was a rebellion against my expected life trajectory. Big skies, clouds, and late day shadows all express the space, the lightness and the potential for any thing to grow metaphorically and literally. These dreamlike acrylic paintings continue to show up in my artwork throughout my career.
